Wildfires, Climate Justice, and Community Resilience: BASE at COP30
At COP30 in Belém, the BASE Initiative, coordinated by Fundación Avina, will spotlight the urgent need to integrate wildfires into the Loss & Damage agenda. Between November 13 and 19, BASE will support four events uniting scientists, Indigenous leaders, brigadistas, governments, and funders to discuss prevention, resilience, and justice in the face of climate-induced fires across the Amazon and Pantanal. These dialogues will call for direct, flexible financing for community and volunteer brigades, the essential first responders to this escalating climate crisis.
